Kushiel's Mercy Free Audiobook Download by Jacqueline Carey
"Poetry is for the mortally wounded," Kushiel tells her. "It's for those who've lost their way and need to know it's still possible to break the rules."
Tris is a young woman who was raised in a decadent, high-society court where pleasure is considered the most important of virtues. Tris's father has arranged her marriage to a market trader. But when she meets Gabriel, an honest man with a mysterious past, she knows that the life she's been destined for isn't the one she wants.
Kushiel's Mercy is a fantasy story about the ramifications of an ancient society's lust for power and revenge. The main character, Phèdre nó Delaunay, is an aristocrat in this society who falls deeply in love with a commoner--a nobleman's son. But forbidden love between social classes is punishable by death. Phèdre must find a way out of her predicament or be killed herself.
This audiobook tells the story of Phèdre nó Delaunay, a young noblewoman who is sold into indentured servitude. As she works in the palace of Terre d'Ange's capital city, she befriends and falls in love with her master, the nobleman known as Duke Gabriel de la Courcel. After having an affair that results in his wife's death, he hides from his enemies and entrusts Phèdre to smuggle him out of the country. She agrees because Gabriel has been helping her find her father and brothers-in-law who have gone missing in a different part of Terre d'Ange
Jacqueline Carey's "Kushiel's Mercy" is a fantasy novel about the sexual awakening of one woman and her role as a handmaiden to angels. It's filled with strong, complex characters, engaging plot twists, and metaphors for love and war.
One of the most compelling audiobooks I've ever listened to is Kushiel's Mercy. It's a book within a book, narrated by the main character himself, Imriel. Simon Vance does an amazing job narrating this book, but it wasn't always so easy when I was reading it for myself. When I started listening to the audiobook, my fear of recording myself and explaining things aloud was so great that I could barely listen past the first few chapters. But as soon as I got into the story itself, everything changed. The narration took on an entirely new life and felt like an experience that went beyond my imagination or comprehension.
