Kushiel's Dart Free Audiobook Download by Jacqueline Carey
The story of a young woman in ancient France who finds herself unwillingly married off to the powerful and charismatic Prince turned Commander-in-Chief, Valerian. She discovers that she is not just one of many wives and concubines, but also his "Dart" - a shape-shifting assassin of deep cover that becomes a symbol of female power in this society.
This is the second novel in a fantasy series by Jacqueline Carey and it follows the story of Imriel de la Courcel, an Asha'man, one of the few people who can wield magic for any nation. Imriel was born to an incestuous relationship between his mother and his father
Kushiel's Dart is a book filled with fantasy and romance. The main character is Phedre, who is an indentured servant of Elua, god of the light and love. Phedre begins her journey in a city called Terre d'Ange, which has recently been ransacked by their enemies, the Scions of Kushiel - dark angels who have taken control of the life-breath-essence of the nation. Phedre must not only escape from this city and survive, but she must also help free a country from its oppressors.
This is one of my favorite audiobooks of all time. The narrator has a beautiful voice and the book was written beautifully.
Kushiel's Dart is a cornerstone of the genre of fantasy literature. If you are looking for a fantasy book to suit your own tastes, this is the one for you.
