I Survived #02: I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 Free Audiobook Download by Lauren Tarshis

I Survived #02: I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 is a book that tells the story of a girl who was not afraid to stand up for herself- despite being considered "different" for having red hair and freckles. She does what she wants, when she wants, regardless of what everyone else thinks.

In the audiobook number two in the I Survived series, P.J. Ochlan takes listeners back to 1916 when a group of people found themselves stranded on an island during shark attacks. The only way they could get off the island was to swim across a shark-infested ocean and hope that they don't get attacked.

I Survived #02: I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 follows 15-year-old heroine Betsy Taylor as she travels to Florida with her family on vacation. After a hand injury leaves her unable to do any swimming, it seems that nothing can stop this trip from being a disaster. However, when Betsy's family discovers an old newspaper article about the notorious Red Shark that terrorized the Florida coast for years, Betsy realizes she might not drown in a shark attack after all.

In 1916, Lauren Tarshis and her family were vacationing in the Florida Keys when they discovered that a shark had attacked their boat. The story concludes with Lauren's detailed description of what would happen if one of these creatures actually caught up to her again.

They say that the first day of summer is the worst day to be on the ocean. That's because sharks are always hungry in the summer and they're looking for something to eat. But, in 1916 there was no such thing as a shark. In fact, those days there was never any such thing as a shark - not until people started driving their cars onto the beach and swimming there anyway. So, it wasn't really a surprise when my dad told me about how one day he took a walk along the shore to see what all the commotion with all of these people was about and what do you know? They were all screaming at each other about how some guy had been killed by a shark!

Lauren, the protagonist of this adventure, is a ten-year-old girl on vacation with her family in 1916. The Great White was just one of the many dangers that Lauren had to navigate. She survived by being smart and not panicking as sharks swam under her boat, breathing through a reed while they ate raw lobsters, and using her imagination to distract herself from what might be lurking nearby.
