Theodora Taylor has created a collection of stories that takes the reader on a journey across America, with short chapters covering fifty states. My favorite is West Virginia, which is a sweet love story about Ashley and Bear, who was not at all looking for love but found it anyways.

This novella is a classic "small town girl moves to big city, must figure out the ABC's of romance" romantic comedy. Clementine is a young woman who plans to marry her childhood sweetheart, Edmond. Unfortunately, they are both living in different states and have to get married secretly because Edmond's father wants nothing more than for them to be wed in his church. Surprisingly, things work out just fine as Edmond starts helping Clementine get her bearings in the big city just as a storm approaches.
