The narrator, Amy Mcfadden, does an incredible job in capturing Lucinda's voice and personality. Her voice is smooth and dark, deepening as the story progresses to show how much Lucinda has changed over time into becoming someone who will do anything to achieve what she wants.

The story begins with a man and his daughter, who are fleeing from something that is pursuing them. They come across an old structure and decide to take refuge there. As they enter the building, they find themselves in a massive library where all the shelves are full of books. The man finds a book hidden at the back of one shelf and opens it up to find it is blank. When he tries to write in it, blood appears on the page and he lets out a blood-curdling scream for help. The daughter calls for her father but he's already dead.
