Fall of the Core Free Audiobook Download by Ryk Brown
The story follows the last surviving humans on Earth as they battle to keep themselves alive amidst a world in ruin.
When a military contractor launches the world's first particle accelerator into space, peace on Earth is achieved. But when the experiment goes awry, it causes the catastrophic collapse of civilization and sends humanity hurtling back to a medieval state in which nothing is certain but violence, no law commands respect, and everything--from food to water to shelter--is sacred.
On a visit to a farm in upstate New York, Ryk Brown is captivated by the beauty of the landscape. The character's thoughts are reflected in the words of author Ryk Brown as he describes his experience at the farm. Ryk is so taken with this place that he promises himself to write an article about how important it is for people to stop and enjoy what they see around them.
"The Fall of the Core" is a story about a computer that rapidly becomes sentient and starts destroying any evidence of human life.
This is a mind-bending science fiction story that makes the reader think twice and question his own personal beliefs. The main protagonist, who was given an experimental treatment that would heal him of mental illness but instead made him unstable, has to find out what happened to him and why it's not healing as it should. Especially when he starts having hallucinations of people dying and him fighting off giant bugs.
Ryk Brown has put together a masterpiece. Fall of the Core is a well-written, thought-provoking story that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The plot is compelling, and there are many twist and turns that make what could be considered a mundane story (i.e., two people trapped underground for months) into something more.
