Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we all took the time to really listen to each other. If we all took the time to really listen to each other regardless of our age, race, gender and status, how different the world would be.
"The way I see it, the meaning of life is to find a way to make your sadness funny. If you don't laugh in the face of your sadness, how will you ever know to be happy?" - Daniel Nayeri
Everything Sad is Untrue: (A true story) is a story about the power of self-disinhibition. It's a story of how one person's unhealthy habit can lead to addiction, and eventually, death. He begins his tale by telling you that he often wore his heart on his sleeve, was a bit too open with those around him and therefore ended up in some pretty dark places that would mostly affect him. From the moment this book opens, you're already feeling sympathetic for the protagonist as you know what will happen because it seems so certain from the beginning.
A true story of a man who, in the face of tragedy and hopelessness, takes action to live his life fully. A story about hope.
Daniel Nayeri was born in Tehran, Iran. His childhood and life were as normal until war broke out at the age of six. Daniel's family watched as their friends, cousins and neighbours became victims of a rising racist regime. They left to escape the war and live in America where he felt the mental health care system wasn't what it could be. After years of struggling with his mental health, he wrote this autobiographical story about how sadness over a breakup led to severe depression.
