This audiobook was absolutely riveting and captivating. The book takes place in the summer of 1945, shortly after the end of World War II. Therese is a 16-year-old who is the daughter of a German-American woman and a British soldier. She has a lot to think about as she tries to figure out her identity within her family's culture.

Irene Hannon is a fisherman's wife living on the coast of Maine. When she was young, her mother called her "Meg" for her precociousness and wit even though her father thought it was too common for his daughter. Her life changes when she meets Jake, who is from New York City and has been sent to take care of his family's failing hotel in Driftwood Bay.

Driftwood Bay is a historical romance set in 1849 by Irene Hannon. The reader follows the heroine, Elisabeta Vanetta, as she travels from Italy to America to find the father of her illegitimate son. Along the way, she meets a British aristocrat who is part of a rebellion that threatens England's ruling class. Elisabeta vows to fight for what is right, and their love story begins over secrets and secrets that must be uncovered and revealed.

Driftwood Bay is a story of two sisters, one who has always been the pretty one and the other who has always been the misfit. The protagonist, Therese Plummer, reads this book with such feel and emotion that it draws you into her world and her struggles to try to find happiness in a difficult childhood.

Driftwood Bay is like a fairytale, but with so much more. Hannon's writing is elegant and lyrical. The story is about a young woman who goes to live on an island that she hears about from her father who sailed there years ago. Therese Plummer does an amazing job with the narration. She accents each character flawlessly and you will be glued to your audio device in no time at all!

Therese Plummer has a voice that enthralls the listener and it is easy to imagine her as a fantastical creature.
