This audiobook was absolutely riveting and captivating. The book takes place in the summer of 1945, shortly after the end of World War II. Therese is a 16-year-old who is the daughter of a German-American woman and a British soldier. She has a lot to think about as she tries to figure out her identity within her family's culture.

Her life changes when she meets Jake, who is from New York City and has been sent to take care of his family's failing hotel in Driftwood Bay.
