Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey Free Audiobook Download by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Margaret Peterson Haddix wrote a dystopian novel about a future where people are sent to prison camps for being different. The protagonist, Margaret Dunphrey, escapes from the camp and makes her way to an underground refuge that is full of other kids who were also prisoners. Eventually, she realizes that the place has been built on top of an abandoned nuclear bomb site.

"Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey" is a book about a boy named Joe who is desperate for something to read, so he seeks out the most popular teacher at school. Mrs. Dunphrey isn't as old as she sounds- she's in her 20s - but she likes to make up stories about different children and their adventures, which helps Joe relax.

Do you like to read? Do you like horror stories? If so, there is no better time than now to listen to "Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey" narrated by Alyssa Bresnahan.

It's Thanksgiving, and Mrs. Dunphrey is hiding out in a house with her best friend's family. But she never told them about the magic that might have happened if she had gone home for the holiday--and now it's too late. To avoid all of the awkward questions from her friends, who know nothing about what happened on that fateful day in 1996, Mrs. Dunphrey decides to play sick for the holiday, turning up dead on Christmas Eve. If only she could stay alive just long enough to reveal her secret...

[SPOILER ALERT] Mrs. Dunphrey's son has been kidnapped and Mrs. Dunphrey turned to one of her old friends, Mr. Perkins, for help. Mr. Perkins says he can only find the kidnapper if he uses his mind-reading power to "see" through the kidnapper's eyes. He uses it at first, but then not again because it made him ill and no one else could use it except for Mrs. Dunphrey (who is incarcerated for murdering her husband) who used it to save her son from being killed by the kidnapper's father
