Dead in the Family Free Audiobook Download by Charlaine Harris

I was quite surprised how much I liked the audiobook. It was easy to follow, and I never felt like it dragged or that my interest would wane. A definite recommendation!

This audiobook told the story of Jannie's grandma early on in her life and introduced other characters who would later appear in Harris' series about a female vampire, Sookie Stackhouse.

Dead in the Family is book number 10 of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. In this installment, things are looking up for Sookie as she has finally gotten married to Bill Compton and she is enjoying being a newlywed. On their honeymoon, her husband mysteriously disappears and Sookie finds herself caught in a web of vampire politics that threaten to rip apart the fragile peace between vampires and humans. The audiobook was narrated by Johanna Parker who does a phenomenal job with accents and keeping the characters interesting in their performances. This is an easy listen that will have you coming back to it again and again.

The Dead in the Family is the first book by Charlaine Harris. Set in the 1970's, it details the investigation into the shooting death of a young black man in a small Louisiana town. The story is told from 3 perspectives: Detective Dudley Smith, his nephew Tommy 'Bear' Howard, and one of Bear's classmates Ricky Washington. It was written as an homage to Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe novels.
