The story kicks off with the discovery of the corpse of a young woman, Serena Landry, found dead on the side of a highway. Her frozen body is one of three left out in the open during an unusually harsh winter. The narrator is Natalie Dancy, who has just been named sheriff and heads up the investigation into Serena's death as well as other unsolved murders.

This was my first audiobook of the year and I really enjoyed it. Its about a ghost that haunts a child after she gets mixed up with someone who killed him. The narration was done by Johanna Parker and she did an amazing job. I really loved her voice, especially at the end when she sounds scared!
