Circle of Darkness is a story about love and the lengths people will go to in order to have it. The cold-hearted Joel and the kind, compassionate Aimee have met their match in each other. Circle of Darkness is a dark fantasy urban fantasy novel. It tells the story of two women, each struggling to find their way in a world that has changed drastically due to an invasion by an ancient race of beings known as the Nephilim. The narrating style is well done and not complicated which makes for an easy listen. The narration primarily comes from the perspective of one woman, Nicole Walker; however, Bella Aimee does make appearances throughout.

The protagonist of the story is a boy named Ian, who wants to know what happened to his father after he mysteriously disappears. He starts investigating and finds out about the "Circle of Darkness", an underground group that was in charge of turning people into vampires. One day when he gets home from school, Ian finds out that his parents are dead and their new neighbors want to take him away. Can he escape before disaster strikes?

When she was six years old, her mother found a girl being killed and took the child in to save her life. The only way for Aimee to forget her pain is through the creation of an imaginary friend and even when it can no longer escape from reality, her mind still finds comfort with understanding that everyone is capable of creating their own little world inside themselves.

The Circle of Darkness is a series about a group of young adults who are forced to run from the wrong side of the law. They live in Haven, a society where being different will not be tolerated. The Circle was created by the government to help identify people and keep them safe. The young adults are put through many harmful tests that are designed to scare them out. However, they survive, and once they reach adulthood, they decide to set sail on their own boat and begin living life as pirates. Some may find this story predictable but as Melissa shares her opinion of this book it becomes more interesting with each turn of the page because she also isn't so sure what's going on at first.
