As soon as I listened to the first paragraph of By Heresies Distressed: A Novel in the Safehold Series (#3) audiobook, I knew that Jason Culp had done a terrific job. The narrator did a great job voicing every character including the protagonist, Captain Deirdre Huguenin. As soon as I heard her speak, I instantly knew she was someone who could be trusted with anything. It wasn't long before one of her crew members became suspicious of Deirdre's loyalty and refused to work with her anymore. Although this was just the beginning, it was enough to make me interested in her and want to know more about Deirdre's past. This audiobook is different from other ones because it doesn't have a good vs evil theme like most novels. Instead, it tells a story about how two groups of people that are at war with each other can still find common ground despite their differences.
