No one could have prepared me for the return from my youth-yet I was ready. In Broken Dreams, we find Kelly Elliott eager to prove herself and her father's legacy. As a high school cheerleader, she is excited to seize her opportunity when her father announces that he will be running for governor of Virginia. Kelly knows she must win in order to make him proud, but what happens when everything starts to go wrong?
Broken Dreams has everything from a tragic love story to an unforgettable journey. I love the intro that starts off with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr and it just shows how personal this audiobook is for me. This also includes how Kelly Elliott's world changed in the wake of her diagnosis with breast cancer. It was very inspiring to hear what she had to say and how she challenged herself to get back into her art, which is something that everyone should try once they are feeling lost or discouraged.
A young girl is taken from her family and forced to live in the wild. Four different animals come to visit her, each one with a problem, like a dying mother or a book that was lost forever. They tell her stories of their own dreams which they will never get back. This book is suitable for any age who appreciates the magic of storytelling and how it can affect them whether they realize it or not.

This is a book about the perils of letting go of dreams. It's about how people often grind their teeth and cry until they turn black and blue because they're too afraid to follow their dreams. It's difficult, but it's worth it in the end.
