Artificial Condition Free Audiobook Download by Martha Wells

A world where society has learned to control many conditions, illnesses, and hereditary diseases with the help of technology.

I recently finished listening to the audiobook version of Artificial Condition. I do not think I have ever read or listened to this type of novel before. This is a sci-fi mystery that manages to be both a thriller and romantic suspense with the help of the protagonist, Mara, and the fact that it's set in space.

Artificial Condition is a science fiction novel by Martha Wells. The story is set in the future, where people are able to download themselves into computer programs.

In 2011, I made the decision to start reading science fiction again. The genre had been downhill since my teenage years when the books were set in outer space and were more like adventure stories than what we consider science fiction today. But in 2016, I found a writer who was able to completely enthrall me with a book that is not only tightly written but also thought provoking and deeply philosophical. That book was Martha Wells's "Artificial Condition."

With a play by Martha Wells, this is the story of a woman named Della, who has been in an artificial coma for her entire life. She can't remember anything before she woke up in the hospital and she's never seen outside of it. People that come in contact with her have created an alternate world around her to keep them comfortable as they wake up from their own comas. The only way to wake her is if someone else falls into a coma and wakes up first.

This is a great audiobook that makes you feel like you are in the room with all of the characters. There's plenty of mystery and suspense, and it moves at a good pace. It has a nice twist near the end which keeps you guessing about what will happen next.
