Agnes and the Hitman Free Audiobook Download by Bob Mayer,Jennifer Crusie
A guilty pleasure of mine is Sandra Burr's narration of Bob Mayer's Agnes and the Hitman. That is, in part, because it sounds like she is enjoying herself immensely. I love to hear her laugh, giggle, and laugh again as she narrates with a sense of humor that you don't always get from audiobooks. Burr also has a nice voice; one that's smooth and soothing at the same time.
Agnes, a librarian in her third decade of service, takes one book out of the library and reads it with rapturous pleasure. It is the story of a young woman who looks like the girl next door but has been raised from early childhood by a hitman to be his perfect assassin. She is trained in dozens of languages and taught how to wield various weapons. A bit too much for Agnes when she discovers she's ripped out an entire chapter from the book and is looking at it hoping to catch a clue about what this all means.
Agnes Lewis is tired of being a woman. This "woman" needs to be treated like a man-strong, tough, fearless. She wants to stop the world from seeing her as the weak female that she is, and she'll do anything to accomplish her goal.
Agnes, a middle-aged dog, and her family move to a new home in the country to escape the city. Agnes is happy for the change until she meets her new neighbor and his adorable children. They are all living with their killer family pet--a large white German Shepherd named Lexi. Agnes and Lexi quickly develop an animosity towards one another, and soon they are engaging in bloody battles that leave everyone on edge. When their mother finds out about their feud, she takes it upon herself to try and heal the wounds between them by bringing them together for some couples therapy. Agnes agrees to go on a date with Lexi's family so that they can get to know each other better. Then when things don't go
Agnes and the Hitman is narrated by Sandra Burr, who gives a very descriptive and gritty performance. This story is told from first person narration, which is done well with varying emotions and tones that are pulled in nicely.
Agnes and the Hitman is a funny romance novel about a woman who bumps into her ex-boyfriend in a lying-in-bed store. Happily, they decide to start over and face the future together with their children and grandchild, but things don't go quite as smoothly as they hope.
