Yoga Pant Nation: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Laurie Gelman
Set in the heart of serious Brooklyn, Yoga Pant Nation is a lighthearted and fast-moving story about a yoga studio owner who's trying to make her business work out of her basement. Everything is falling apart, but when she meets Omar, an Algerian immigrant who was once one of France's finest bakers and a great lover--both things he doesn't want to admit--she finally finds hope.
A lonely, old woman grows attached to an article of clothing she finds at a garage sale—an old pair of yoga pants that belonged to her late husband. Life and death happen as she wears the pants—eventually leaving behind a legacy for the pant’s true owner’s daughter.
Laurie Gelman is an American woman in her late fifties who is about to get married for the fourth time. The wedding plans are complete, but when her husband-to-be has a change of heart, Laurie must find a new partner and fast. She finds herself in England being introduced to the "Yoga Pant Nation" where she must make a life-altering choice.
The main character, Lisa, begins the story by stating she just wants to be like everyone else and live a normal life. But when she gets diagnosed with hyperthyroidism when she's 14 years old and given 6 months to live, all of her plans change in an instant. She starts practicing yoga so that she can reach higher heights and "duck out" of her body if need be. Lisa isn't content with her life until she meets Neil who is playing soccer for the US Men's Soccer Team and falls in love with him. Until then, Lisa has been living on death row but soon realizes how much making peace with herself and finding love has transformed her into a better person than before.
This is a romantic novel, but it's not your typical romance. The book follows the story of two girls who were best friends in high school and college until one day they were both attacked by the same man. Now, as adults living in New York City, they are finding their lives difficult to navigate as each woman begins to face her own struggles. One is overweight and physically struggling, while the other has an eating disorder and struggles with self-image.
