The Three Sisters: The Hollows - Short Story Free Audiobook Download by Lisa Unger

"I'm all for the Three Sisters," she said, "the fire, the earth, and the air. But I think we're taking them for granted."

The Three Sisters, by Lisa Unger is a short story that was published in her collection The Hollows. This is the first book in the series of books and tells the story of sisters who have had their future taken from them when a large section of their forest was cut down for development. The three sisters struggle to find something positive and productive to replace their father's logging legacy, until they discover a small section of trees untouched by the logging project. These trees, dubbed the "Three Sisters," seem to be able to grant wishes, but only if you follow these three simple rules: never pick an apple from a pear tree, never take two pears from a fig tree, and always leave one thing for others just because you can.

There is a legend in the Hollows, one that old women tell their little ones before they go to bed. It's a story about three sisters who were granted power by The Hollows themselves. They were told how to sit, how to walk, how to speak and what to say in a language all their own. In return they had to perform three tasks: take care of the animals who always needed feeding and cleaning, watch over The Hollows that watched over everything else so no harm could come to them and keep the stories alive for generations after them.

This is the first in a series of three stories about the Hollows and the people who live there. The stories revolve around an ancient spell that can cause any living being to vanish. The spell is eventually discovered by witches who are trying to rid the world of it.

Lisa Unger's short story was an excellent example of how the author uses magic, folklore and mythology to weave a tale that is simultaneously entertaining and meaningful. The Three Sisters: The Hollows is a supernatural horror story about three young sisters who discover their mother's ability to conjure spirits. Their mother doesn't know that she has this power and leaves the children in charge of summoning up the three faeries who keep them safe from harm until she returns from her trip. The three sisters are left in complete control of their fate, but they only get more trouble every time one or all of them summon up a spirit.

The Three Sisters: The Hollows - Short Story, written by Lisa Unger, is a terrifyingly cool tale of three sisters living in the hollow in which they've been confined since childhood. This audiobook adaptation has been given a bit of a modern update as the story is narrated by January LaVoy, who also narrated The Body Finder and other popular books.
