The Shape Shifter: A Leaphorn and Chee Novel Free Audiobook Download by Tony Hillerman

A detective story set in the Navajo country of Southern Arizona, "The Shape Shifter" is the first book in a series featuring Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. The novel introduces readers to Native American customs, legends and rituals such as the Navajo sandpainting ceremony that marks the beginning of any important event.

George Guidall, longtime Chee and Largo's narrator on the American Indian reservation in New Mexico, continues his collaboration with Tony Hillerman by narrating The Shape Shifter. What begins as a routine investigation quickly takes a back seat to more pressing matters when Leaphorn is suddenly accused of murder - and it seems there's plenty of suspects in his department.

George Guidall narrates this novel, where Leaphorn and Chee are travelling to find out the story behind a Navajo shaman's death. The two detectives have difficulty finding clues past the shaman's cousin, who has taken over his leadership role.

[George Guidall] is best known for his narration of the 'Jack Reacher' series and has had many other roles. He does not sound as tough or as gruff as Roy, but he does a wonderful job with this new novel. At the start of the book, there's a little confusion about who is narrating. But by the end of the first chapter, you'll know it's him.

The Shape Shifter is a 12-hour audiobook that follows the story of Leaphorn and Chee, two Navajo policemen working in the town of Window Rock. They investigate a series of murders that lead them to find out more about how to control the shape shifters in their territory.
