The Perfume Thief: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Timothy Schaffert

One winter night, a thief breaks into a Parisian perfume shop and starts stealing bottles of perfume by the dozens. The delightful scent from the first-floor window attracts a horde of young people who gather outside, hundreds strong, clamoring for the elusive perfume. What's so intoxicating about it? What makes these people--and their leader, an artist named Antoine--so addicted to this smell?

Stefan Rudnicki has lived two lives. The first as a struggling actor, and the second as an international thief who is always one step ahead of the law and his enemies. Stefan's latest robbery has gone smoothly, he can't wait until he gets to Paris for a break from his life on the run--until he meets Barbara. Barbara reminds him of his mother--women in his life tend to do that--and she has looked after him since he was born. But something about her makes him think that perhaps this time is different. His instincts are correct and before long, he realizes that Barbara knows too much about him, even though she should be out of reach at the top of a secret French mountain chalet.

"The Perfume Thief" is a novel about perfumery during the French Revolution that offers readers a unique new perspective on this period of history.

The Perfume Thief is a novel about an unnamed protagonist who robs a museum. He is caught and sentenced to life in prison but has escaped the first night of his sentence and roams Amsterdam. He survives by stealing perfume from wealthy women he meets, in order to sell them on the black market. The rest of the novel follows him as he makes his way through Amsterdam, with the help of a family friend who leads him in the direction of his next target. I found this book very interesting because it follows a different path than most thrillers.

The Perfume Thief is an interesting story that takes place during the French Revolution. It is told from the perspectives of two main characters: Jacques, a young man who uses his position as a clerk in the Royal Pharmacy to steal expensive perfumes for hungry revolutionaries; and Charles-Henri Sanson, head of The Parisian police and executioner.

In 1843 Paris, a young man named Jean-Baptiste Grenouille has an uncanny skill of smelling. He is also obsessed with perfume and he believes that he can smell the large city's scents. He goes to extraordinary lengths to capture the perfect fragrance.
