A novel that quickly hooked me and kept me engrossed is 'The Cellist: A Novel' by Daniel Silva. I found the audiobook to be a perfect way to experience this book, narrated by Edoardo Ballerini. The narrator is excellent, bringing each character to life with a deep-toned voice and a wide range of emotion.
'Edoardo Ballerini' is a masterful narrator and the audio version of "The Cellist" is a compelling read. The book takes place in Vienna, Austria in 1972. The protagonist - Avishai Cohen - is a young Israeli cellist who has been an illegal immigrant for over three years. He and his wife are now members of the local Jewish community, but they are unable to find peace knowing that their son's father is still alive and living as an assassin in Israel. When Avishai receives a request from his child and spouse to come back home he must make the decision between his loyalty to Israel or to his family back home.
