'Texas Homecoming' takes place during the chaotic Civil War era. The story starts out with a man, Sam Shepard, who went to Texas to escape from his wife, and from the Army. His wife didn't want him to go because she knew that if he went he might be killed by the fighting. He ends up going anyways because he knows no one would ever find him in Texas. Shortly after arriving in Texas, he realizes that things are not as they seem and is soon involved in a bunch of conflicts between different groups of people in Texas.

"Texas Homecoming" is a book of stories based on the author's memories of growing up in Texas. The stories are set from the 1920s through the 1950s, when life was tough but also interesting. It starts with her memories of her family's ranch, where she enjoyed a peaceful childhood.

Chelsea Hatfield narrated the audiobooks. Ms. Hatfield's voice is a bit too high-pitched and shrill, but this makes it easy to distinguish between characters. The book can be a bit slow at times, but overall it's engaging.
