Pulitzer Prize-winning author Kristi Demeester presents Such a Pretty Smile, a novel narrated by the author herself. The story is a deeply moving, heart-wrenching prose which follows Dr. Ottavio as he navigates his complicated life after the death of his wife.

Such a Pretty Smile: A Novel is a story about how life impacts everyone, and how when we're given the chance to see life differently, we can find beauty that wasn't immediately apparent.

Published by the Viking Press in 1975 and reprinted in 1980, Such a Pretty Smile: A Novel is the first novel written and published by an American woman. The main character of this story, Iris, is a young woman who comes to New York City on a wave of hope after escaping her unhappy past back home. She's just arrived and has no idea what it will take to make her dream come true.

Aspen Matthews is a young woman with a beautiful smile and has been in love with Adam from the moment she saw him at her school dance. She tries to get his attention throughout the year, but Adam never seems to notice her. Eventually, Aspen notices that there's something different about him - he's good looking, but not as interested in girls as they are in him. In an effort to win Adam's affections, Aspen decides to change who she is. Now without anyone paying attention to her that way, she realizes everything about herself is wrong and breaks down crying - until Adam

With a narrator like that, how could I not love Such a Pretty Smile: A Novel? The story is narrated in parts by the protagonist, her mother, other family members, and friends. It tells the story of how Marnie goes from being a carefree girl who enjoys life to having to work hard to make something of herself while also dealing with some tough personal issues.

Such a Pretty Smile by Kristi Demeester is unlike anything I've ever read before. It's a captivating and suspenseful mystery with a twist on the traditional romance novel. The audiobook features an intriguing voice over performance of the author, narrated by Kristine Hvam. The book is available for download via Audible
