Sing You Home is a novel narrated by four different narrators. It tells the story of the small town of Rose Hill, Illinois and the various people who live in it. Mr. Banning has announced that he's going to make Rose Hill his retirement home and is looking to buy a house for a thousand dollars from Nate McFarland, a veteran who fought in Vietnam. Mr. Banning is surprised when he finds out that Nate will only sell if he'll also sell his house trailer, which also comes with extra space on the property. As they negotiate, we learn about the other characters: Benji Reed, Nate's daughter; Eliza McFarland, her husband and Nate's son; and Tish Sommers, an old friend of Benji's who ended up staying after their divorce and now works at a funeral home dealing with death on a daily basis.
