Fist Stick Knife Gun: A Personal History of Violence Free Audiobook Download by Geoffrey Canada
The first time I heard 'Fist Stick Knife Gun,' I was a twenty-two-year-old man with long brown hair and beefy arms, who would often be found sitting on the floor near his bed or in the living room. It was summertime in 1987, and my sister had just taken me to see this new movie that she thought might help me understand my past.

It goes without saying that Geoffrey Canada is no stranger to violence and poverty. He has experienced it first hand from the time he was just a young boy in his native country of Guyana. He moved to the US as a teenager and quickly became involved in social justice, most notably with the Black Panthers. This led him on a path to become an educator in Harlem, which eventually made him the head of New York City's Department of Education. Not only did he write this book, but he also narrated it himself.
Geoffrey Canada was born in the Bahamas into a family of nine children. His parents were working-class and they had to work hard to afford a decent life; there was no time for education or extracurricular activities. After their fourth child, Canada's father died in an accident and his mother began drinking heavily. Due to these circumstances, Geoffrey was largely absent from school until he started taking school more seriously when he turned 12.
