A Game of Fear is a gripping, fresh and suspenseful crime thriller. Charles Todd creates a moody atmosphere, so you are on edge for the entire story. The book is about the life of Kate Shugak and her involvement in solving a mystery that has been plaguing her community for some time. There's a lot to like about this book, but one variable that was bothersome to me was narrator Simon Vance's voice. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected from the Simon Vance narration style

This is a classic story about the many different shades of human nature and how people choose to deal with fear. The story follows a man who inherits an old estate in Scotland, where he decides to open an annual game of terror, involving disfigured peasants as the players. His home becomes one of the most popular destinations for nobles and courtiers to come play this game.
